Understanding Markup Options
Discount, Commission and Markup strategies in Tourplan NX can be complex but offer great flexibility. The most commonly used purpose is the markup - for establishing an agent selling price from a supplier’s cost price. The decision to implement specific markup methodologies should occur early on in the Tourplan system implementation process, ideally within the setup phase of product establishment. We focus on this specific aspect of product setup because it is much easier to get it right from the outset than to change strategies retrospectively.
Your choice of options is dependent on how your rates are received from suppliers and how you sell to your agents. You may employ different strategies for different combinations of products and agents while also remembering that keeping it as simple as possible will minimise one-off and ongoing product maintenance and pricing transparency.
This document provides an overview of the markup, commission and discount strategies available in your Tourplan system. When pricing considerations and markup principles are understood you should (with Tourplan’s ongoing assistance) be able to apply optimal methodologies suited to your specific requirements.
